New Gopuram of Sri Marundeeswarar Temple will be ready in May

The kumbabhishekam of the new gopuram of Sri Marundeeswarar Temple in Thiruvanmiyur will be held from May 21 to 23.This information was given by the temple officers.


The new gopuram (on the eastern side of this famous temple)whose construction was suspended some years ago, is being constructed afresh.The project was taken up in July 2007.
Temple officials say the entire project is being co-ordinated by the Friday Committee Members. S.Rajan is the chairman of this committee. The project is supported by industrialist Pollachi Mahalingam.

The new gopuram is about 85 feet in height. The workers spend about 10 hours a day working on it.
The path leading towards the temple is made up of special granite. About 75% of the work is finished, said the engineer on the site.The painting work is under progress.The engineer said that the work would be completed before May 20.

The kumbabishekam will take place between 9 a. m. and 10:30 a.m. Special rituals are going to take place right from May 21. Devotees are invited to witness this pooja and receive prasadam.
